Morning Movement – Refresh!

Announcing Morning Movement – Refresh! The spring season welcomes current artists and some exciting new guests who will guide you through half an hour of movement to music, pilates or yoga. Join us to refresh, re-energise, breathe deeper and simply get in flow for the day ahead. Sessions are suitable for all movers, even those who may not consider themselves dancers.

The classes are free to attend but registration is essential. If you are currently in paid employment and feel that you could afford to, please consider making a donation. All donations will go towards paying freelance creatives, artists and educators who work with us.

Artist bios

Yen-Ching Lin Yen-Ching Lin is a performer, artist. dancer and teacher working in movement, photography and video. Born in Taiwan, she studied at the Taipei National University of the Arts and at London Contemporary Dance School. She danced for Hofesh Schecther Company and Bern Ballet, before joining Akram Khan company as dancer and rehearsal director. She has also worked with Maresa von Stockert, Charles Linehan, Jonathan Lunn, Jan de Schynkel, Didy Veldman, Theo Adams, Ballet Lorent. Kenny Wing Tao Ho Kenny Wing Tao Ho is a dance artist, movement facilitator and performer. He studied dance at London Contemporary Dance School and since graduating has mainly worked with Protein Dance, Hofesh Shechter Company and Gecko Theatre. Kenny has also worked with Nina Kov, Eleesha Drennan, Itamar Serussi Sahar, New Movement Collective, Renaud Wiser, Akram Khan (2012 Olympics), and Just Us Dance Theatre. Most recently Kenny has been collaborating and performing with Jose Agudo and Dickson Mbi, and is beginning to explore his own choreographic practice. Ellen Yilma Ellen Yilma is a dance artist and teacher. She has performed with Richard Alston Dance Company, Clod Ensemble, Tavaziva, Akademi (in collaboration with Jose Agudo) and amongst others. Ellen is a certified Pilates teacher and Relation Dynamics coach. Dickson Mbi Dickson was born in Cameroon and grew up in London where he studied at Lewisham College and London Contemporary Dance school. He has worked with award- winning artists such as Russell Maliphant, Boy Blue Entertainment, Robbie Williams, Corrine Bailey-Rae, Black Eyed Peas. As a choreographer, he founded Dickson Mbi Company in 2018, and is also creating external commissions. Makiko Aoyama Makiko Aoyama is a Japanese born, London based movement artist and performance maker. Since graduating from Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Makiko has regularly collaborated with Lea Anderson, Frauke Requardt and David Rosenberg and Clod Ensemble. Monique Jonas Monique trained at Rambert School and London Contemporary Dance School. She has worked with Richard Alston Dance Company, Sally Marie, Hubert Essakow, Arcade Fire, Theo Adams Company, Clod Ensemble and commercially on the Brit Awards, BBC Drama; The Pursuit of Love, Marvel and Jamie Cullum. She is currently touring in Mathew Bourne’s New Adventures production of Nutcracker! Monique founded Jona Dance in 2019, creating commissions for Ballet Black, Rambert School, Pegasus Opera, Reebok and London Fashion Week amongst others. Angelika Grohmann Angelika has dedicated her life to yoga and meditation and has been teaching full time for 35 years. She regularly works on the Clod Ensemble Performing Medicine programme. Her style ‘Yoga Body of Light’ has it’s foundation in the precision and vigour of Iyengar Yoga but emphasises more on breathing and the body’s natural flow of movement.
