A 10 week arts project devised and led by interdisciplinary artist Sheila Ghelani with members of Millman Street Resource Centre in Camden and Riverside Centre in Tower Hamlets.

As the name of the project suggests, participants explored ideas of exchange, gifts and giving - literally ‘exchanging something’ between centres each week, with Sheila acting as a kind of postmistress.

Exchanges included audio fragments of advice, knowledge and song, letters, cards, photographs, postcards, hand-fashioned gifts and wrapping paper.

In addition to this Sheila produced two artistic responses to the project - a box of 10 greeting cards featuring phrases written by the centre members (such as ‘You’re Zoologically Gorgeous, ‘Walk straight we’ll get there in the end’ and ‘Dance with me’) and a series of performative photographs.
